Let's Deduct! ("we", "us", or "our") respects your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the app, you agree to the practices described here.
1. Information We Collect
We collect the information you provide when you create an account and use the app, including your name and email address, the donation and expense records you enter or upload (including photos and receipts), charity names, mileage logs, and any notes you add. We also collect limited usage data such as the features you use and device information needed to operate the service.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to provide and maintain your account, to estimate fair market values for donated items, to generate tax-organizational summaries and IRS Form 8283, to process subscription and credit purchases, to send account-related and tax-season reminder emails you've opted into, and to improve and secure the service. We do not sell your personal information.
3. Account & Tax Data
Your donation, expense, mileage, and charity records belong to you. They are stored securely and are only accessible from your account. Let's Deduct! is an organizational and educational tool — it does not file your taxes or transmit your data to the IRS or any tax-preparation platform.
4. Photos, Receipts & AI Processing
When you upload a photo or receipt for AI identification or extraction, the image is sent to our AI providers to identify items, estimate values, or extract receipt details. The results are saved to your account. We recommend reviewing all AI suggestions before relying on them.
5. Payments
Subscription and credit-pack purchases are processed by Stripe, a PCI-compliant payment platform. Let's Deduct! never sees or stores your full card number. Stripe receives your payment information directly and provides us only with confirmation of your transaction and a customer identifier so we can manage your plan.
6. Google Sheets & Integrations
If you choose to export data to Google Sheets, you connect your own Google account and we export only the donation, expense, and mileage data you select. You can revoke Google access at any time from your Google account permissions. We do not share your data with advertising networks.
7. Data Retention
We retain your records for as long as your account is active so you can reference them across tax years. If you delete individual records, they are removed. If you request account deletion, we will remove your personal data within a reasonable time, except where retention is required by law.
8. Your Rights
You may access, export, correct, or delete the personal data in your account at any time using the app's editing and deletion features. You can also contact us to request export or deletion of your account. If you are a California resident, you have rights under the CCPA; contact us to exercise them.
9. Data Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encrypted transmission and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information using reasonable safeguards.
10. Children's Privacy
Let's Deduct! is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy in the app or by email. Your continued use of the service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
